a. Subject Matter: Waves are crashing into the shore, while mountains stand in the background.

I feel that this photo is about the beauty and serenity of the natural environment. The photo has not been altered. The photographer used the natural light with some patience to get this amazing shot. With the shutter speed that the photographer used, he caught the motion of the water rushing into the stones of the shore. This creates a calming feeling because it's as if he stopped time. The different textures within the photo give us different parts of nature. There's the smoothness of the small rocks on the shore; the softness of the clouds; and the rigidness of the mountains. The mountains on the left side against the sky on the right side of the photo give a heavier feeling to the piece, but the balance works well.
